I am a little slow when it comes to street art; which is what the kids are all about these days. Back in my day art existed in galleries and museums. However, Banksy is a bit different. Smart and clever, the man wields a can of spray paint and a stencil and creates art on the sides of buildings all around the world. While his identity is unknown, we do know that he walked into the Louvre and hung up his own picture because “To actually [have to] go through the process of having a painting selected must be quite boring. It’s a lot more fun to go and put your own one up.” Recently, a director attempted to make a film about Banksy. In what I think is a brilliant twist, Banksy made a film about the director. The film is showing near my house and I’ll probably blog about it soon, but until then, here is some art. Click the pictures to make them bigger, and feel free to comment!

Part2ism is a street artist that I found on Concrete Canvas and his work is, in a word, real. His latest project is known as the “Masked Ladies” and, as you can see from the pictures below, can be interpreted any number of different ways. Why are the ladies naked, and why did he choose to put women in the gas-masks? What is he trying to say, and how does the female form drive that point across any better than a man or an animal in a gas-mask? Check out the pictures, and do a little searching of your own. I’m not sure that I am in love with the product, but the idea is at least intriguing. Concrete Canvas has him as one of their artists to watch in the New Year.
